Boko Haram abducts three women in Adamawa
Contrary to claims that Nigerian troops have cleared-off Boko Haram terrorists in all the nooks and crannies of Adamawa State, local officials have confirmed that the insurgents are still ravaging the Adamawa-Borno border communities, abducting women and attacking returning farmers.
Reports at the weekend said three women were abducted in a border community between Adamawa and Borno States.
Mr. Adamu Kamale, the member representing Madagali, Michika at the House of Representatives, yesterday said that ‘the Boko Haram insurgents have continued to raid border communities killing people and ransacking returning residents.
“I spent five days in my constituency; they are living in an atmosphere of fear and disdain because the rampaging Boko Haram terrorists continued to launch attack.
“Last week, they killed two vigilantes in Waga and hours later, they proceeded to nearby villages during which three women were abducted.
“Though our soldiers are trying their best, but they need to brace up and collaborate with relevant agencies and volunteers to mop the area.
“I had visited the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Tukur Buratai and intimated him with the development in our areas, but all to no avail.
“Because of the incessant attacks, our people are now living in fear of uncertainty, while others that have earlier returned have begun to flee again, because about four farmers were reported to have been attacked and killed,” he said.
This is coming on the heels of reports that terrorists are hiding in forests and other mountainous areas in the North East just as Gen. Buratai said the army was on the trail of Boko Haram terrorists who fled Sambisa and were hiding in Taraba State.
Buratai spoke when he paid a courtesy call to Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State last week.
He said the Army had strong reasons to believe that some of the terrorists that fled Sambisa were taking refuge in parts of Taraba.
