Romelu Lukaku is a ‘top striker’ – Mourinho

Romelu Lukaku is a ‘top striker’ – Mourinho
Jose Mourinho described Romelu Lukaku as a “top striker” after he scored his first Manchester United goal in a 2-1 pre-season win over Real Salt Lake.
Lukaku, who signed from Everton for £75m last week, fired United ahead on 38 minutes against the MLS side, latching on to a low cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The 24-year-old had also been involved in United’s equaliser, controlling well and then passing across to Jesse Lingard, who laid it on for Mkhitaryan to score.
United manager Mourinho was pleased with Lukaku’s display, and his first goal for the club, saying: “It’s just nice for him, not important for me.

“Before he scored the goal I told him I love everything you do on the pitch. Don’t be worried about scoring or not scoring. He gets behind people, works and presses well. Like everything he does.

“It’s easy to feel it because he was my player four years ago his evolution has been great. He’s now a top striker. The goal is just a detail, not important.”
United’s win was marred slightly by the second-half dismissal of Antonio Valencia for a reckless lunge on Sebastian Saucedo.
Valencia was given his marching orders after a lengthy consultation between the match referee and Mourinho.

“The referee asked me to change the player and I didn’t because I don’t agree with the card,” said Mourinho, before appearing to suggest Saucedo was to blame.
“(He) was really aggressive in the second half. That’s what happens. Some other actions were a bit dangerous,” Mourinho said.
“It’s young people with enthusiasm playing against Manchester United but it’s a friendly match and it’s a different mentality. But it’s pre-season so no problem. It is good experience or us to play with one player less.”

Buhari Hale And Hearty, He’ll Shock Nigerians When He Returns

Former Minister of Petroleum Resources and President Muhammau Buhari’s associate, Tam David West, has opined that President Muhammadu Buhari will shock Nigerians positively when he returns from his medical trip to London hale and hearty.

Tam-West said contrary to claims by some Nigerians, he knew that the President was alive and recuperating well.

Speaking with Sun, the former Minister also said Buhari, upon arrival, may shock Nigerians with cabinet reshuffle and a major re-thinking of method of governance.

“Many Nigerians are complaining that since President Muhammadu Buhari travelled to London on medical trip, things have not been going in the right direction, especially in the political arena. Many Nigerians seem to have been frustrated. So, what are the shockers Nigerians should expect from him when he returns to the country?

“First, when Buhari comes to the country, Nigerians will be shocked. Have you ever seen a dead man coming back alive?
Many people have been saying he has died, I don’t care for them because I have contact with him every week; and I know what is happening every week. When they said Buhari had died, I said they were talking rubbish because I have evidence that he is alive.

“All of the people that are talking stupidly, if you want to be responsible, make a statement based on facts. They have no facts. Look, I have latest evidence two days ago, the man is healthy and alive. How are they going to be shocked?

“They will be shocked because he will come back alive, which will be the first shock. They will also be shocked that he will come back hale and healthy. They will be shocked that when he comes back, he will be the same Buhari that those that know him know – he is so humorous; intellectual Buhari. They carried rumour that he had died and he’s in the mortuary. Muslims don’t put their dead ones in the mortuary.

“Then, his wife went to see him. She came back and said she saw her husband and thanked all the people that were praying for him. But sceptical Nigerians, useless and wicked Nigerians said ‘how do we know that his wife saw him?’ She said ‘ I saw my husband and you are still doubting him.

“Then, they said he could not talk again. He addressed the nation on Sallah. They also said he addressed the nation in Hausa, not in English. Before that time, they said he could not speak. Now, the latest one, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, who is the acting president presently has gone to London and said he talked with the President for over one hour.

“He said Buhari was busy cracking hilarious jokes. They will be shocked because all the evil things they wished him, will never come true. They will be shocked because when he returns, it is not likely to be as usual.

“Second, I have this strong feeling that when Buhari comes back, there will be a major re-thinking of governance method. I trust that he will do cabinet reshuffle. But cabinet reshuffle is just a little normal thing. I think that a major re-thinking of method of governance is the only way left for us to turn the table round, and get back the confidence of the people.”

Nigeria legend Enyeama, 10 others frozen out at Lille

Nigeria legend Enyeama, 10 others frozen out at Lille
Portugal’s Euro 2016 hero Eder, Nigeria legend Vincent Enyeama and France international Rio Mavuba are among 11 players who have been frozen out over the summer by new Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa.

After being appointed by the club’s new owner, Gerard Lopez, on a two-year deal in May, Bielsa immediately set about reshaping the squad that finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.
While the former Argentina, Chile and Marseille boss has added to the players at his disposal, he also informed a number of long-serving squad members not to report for preseason training on June 19, and only to start preparing for the new campaign on July 3.

Among them is Eder, 29, who scored the winning goal in last summer’s European Championship final against France, which helped earn him a permanent move to Lille from Swansea City on a four-year deal.
Mavuba, 33, was a member of France’s 2014 World Cup squad and has made nearly 300 Ligue 1 appearances for the club since joining in 2008, and 34-year-old former Nigeria international goalkeeper Enyeama, who moved to Lille in 2011, are also among those ostracised by their new boss.

“It’s a bit bizarre, but I’m handling it OK,” Ivory Coast international Junior Tallo told L’Equipe. “I was informed like the others, by text. We’re under contract, the club does what it wants. We would have liked to have had a discussion. But it’s a business choice made by the bosses.

“As for me, I’m under contract. I will respect the two years I have left. I’m in no hurry. I want to establish myself at Lille. It’s the club that wants me to leave. We’ll see if they find a solution between now and the end of the transfer window. I’m calm.”

On Monday, Enyeama tweeted a selfie with some of his fellow outcasts, who also include Montenegro international Marko Basa, France international Marvin Martin and Zambia defender Stoppila Sunzu, stating: “Always a pleasure to be back with the team.”

North Korea tested long-range missile – US

North Korea tested long-range missile – US
The US has confirmed that North Korea tested a long-range missile which some experts believe could reach Alaska.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called it a “new escalation of the threat” to the US and the world and warned that Washington “will never accept a nuclear-armed North Korea”.
Pyongyang claimed on Tuesday to have successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

In response the US and South Korea fired missiles in the South’s waters.
The combined military exercise was designed to show their “precision fire capability”, the Pentagon said.
Though Tuesday’s test appeared to be a significant development, experts believe that North Korea does not yet have long-range nuclear weapon capabilities.
Tillerson also warned that any nation that provided economic or military benefits to the North or failed to fully implement UN Security Council resolution was “aiding and abetting a dangerous regime”.

The US has asked for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the issue. A closed-door session of the 15-member body is expected later on Wednesday.
The announcement on North Korea state television said the Hwasong-14 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test was overseen by leader Kim Jong-un.
It said the projectile had reached an altitude of 2,802km (1,731 miles) and flew 933km for 39 minutes before hitting a target in the sea.

North Korea, it said, was now “a full-fledged nuclear power that has been possessed of the most powerful inter-continental ballistic rocket capable of hitting any part of the world”.
North Korea’s official KCNA news agency later quoted Kim Jong-un as saying the test was a “gift” to the Americans on their independence day.

The launch, the latest in a series of tests, was in defiance of a ban by the UN Security Council.
But most experts believe Pyongyang does not yet have the capability to miniaturise a nuclear warhead that can fit onto a long-range missile, and that such missiles cannot accurately hit targets.
The big question is what range it has, says the BBC’s Steven Evans in Seoul. Could it hit the United States?

David Wright, a physicist with the US-based Union of Concerned Scientists, says that if the reports are correct, this missile could “reach a maximum range of roughly 6,700km on a standard trajectory”.
That range would allow it to reach Alaska, but not the large islands of Hawaii or the other 48 US states, he says.

It is not just a missile that North Korea would need, BBC correspondent adds.
It must also have the ability to protect a warhead as it re-enters the atmosphere, and it is not clear if North Korea can do that, reports the BBC.
